Our café tells a true tale of art and romance
Treat yourself to a cozy morning ”fika”, a cold beer after the last dip, or hang out and play board games with the family after dark.
Step into a nice atmosphere with a quite unique story. Our café gets its inspiration from the beginning of the 1900s and is named after the famous actress Ester Sahlin, the Swedish-Danish painter Ole Kruse’s great love. Kruse was an important person in the circle of young artists, authors and actors in Gothenburg around this time. Here at Bokenäset, he had his creative sanctuary.

Our food & drinks

Bokenäset’s café serves fresh coffee and homemade cookies and buns. If your lunch, Miss Ester have just taken her famous apple pie out of the oven. Should you miss it, here are also stronger refreshments to lighten your mood again.
The Swedish phenomenon ”fika” is spreading like wildfire over the world. The feeling when you step into Fröken Esther’s café, is that this is the place where the term originates. In this homely setting with inspiration from the beginning of the 1900s, you can always get a really good cup of coffee. And off course, the treats that go with it.
